Manik Saha on Friday announced that development projects worth nearly ₹1,300 crore are currently underway across the state, reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructure growth and improved connectivity. He also revealed that the prestigious Vande Bharat Express will soon connect Tripura with other parts of the country.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while virtually laying the foundation stones for three key projects in Udaipur.

Focus on Infrastructure and Connectivity

Saha highlighted that both the Centre and the state government are working in close coordination to ensure welfare schemes benefit citizens at every level. He said the newly launched projects aim to strengthen infrastructure, encourage systematic urban expansion, enhance environmental protection, and accelerate economic growth.

Preparations are underway to convert the Agartala–Udaipur road into a four-lane highway. The upgrade is expected to ease traffic congestion and significantly improve regional trade and transportation efficiency.

Boost to Healthcare and Alternative Medicine

In a major healthcare initiative, the Chief Minister announced that an Ayurvedic hospital will be established at Tepania in Gomati district. The move is aimed at expanding alternative healthcare facilities and providing residents with greater access to traditional systems of medicine.

Education, Governance and Administrative Reforms

Highlighting the state’s progress in education, Saha said Tripura has achieved full literacy status after Goa and Mizoram. He further noted that the state has received 347 national and regional awards across different sectors.

The Chief Minister also emphasized administrative reforms, stating that the government has implemented a paperless system from the Secretariat to the panchayat level to ensure greater transparency and efficiency.

Expansion in Highways and Medical Education

According to Saha, the total length of national highways in the state has expanded significantly — from 198 km earlier to around 923 km now.

In the health education sector, 450 students are currently pursuing MBBS degrees and 63 are enrolled in BDS programs in Tripura. The government is also taking steps to establish a dedicated health university in the state.

Investment Outlook

Expressing confidence in Tripura’s economic future, the Chief Minister said the state is expecting investments worth nearly ₹15,000 crore in the near future.

Among those present at the event were Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy, Rampada Jamatia and Jitendra Majumder, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Shital Chandra Majumder, TUDA Director Mihir Kanti Gupta, and Gomati Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar K.
