Kanpur: An FIR registered following a Lamborghini crash in Kanpur initially named no individual accused and only referred to the vehicle involved. The case has since reportedly been linked to Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco tycoon K.K. Mishra. The incident, which resulted in injuries to at least six people, is being probed by Gwal Toli police.

The crash took place on Sunday afternoon in the Gwal Toli area when a Lamborghini allegedly went out of control, climbed onto the footpath, and struck pedestrians standing nearby. One of the injured, Mohammad Taufiq, suffered severe injuries to his leg and was taken to hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

Questions were raised over the police’s initial handling of the case after the FIR failed to name the driver, despite videos from the scene circulating online that appear to show a man being pulled out of the luxury car shortly after the collision. The omission triggered public criticism and allegations of preferential treatment.

Police initially claimed that the driver complained of ill health and was taken to a hospital. However, they later acknowledged that there was no clear information about which hospital he was taken to or his medical status. Officials said no arrests or detentions have been made so far.

According to police sources, the Lamborghini first collided with an auto-rickshaw, then hit a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle, throwing its rider several metres, before smashing into an electric pole. Authorities confirmed that the car involved in the accident is registered in the name of K.K. Mishra.

Police have yet to issue an official clarification regarding the mismatch between the FIR details and the visuals that emerged from the crash site. They said the investigation is still underway.
