Power consumers in Assam should prepare for a temporary digital blackout. The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has announced a scheduled 36-hour system shutdown starting this weekend to facilitate critical cloud migration activities.
The downtime is set to begin at 9:00 PM on February 28, 2026, and will conclude at 9:00 AM on March 2, 2026.
Key Apps and Services Affected
During this 36-hour window, all major public and internal digital platforms managed by APDCL will be offline. This includes:
- MyBijulee and BijuleeBandhu mobile apps.
- The official Consumer Portal.
- Payment gateways like EasyPay.
- Internal systems such as ARMS.
Important Advice for Prepaid Consumers
The most critical takeaway from this announcement is for users with prepaid meters. Since recharge services will be completely unavailable during the migration, APDCL has urged consumers to top up their accounts immediately.
“Prepaid consumers are requested to maintain sufficient balance for continued service. Any inconvenience that may be caused is sincerely regretted,” the utility stated in its official release.
Why is this happening?
The shutdown is part of a larger infrastructure upgrade as APDCL moves its data and operations to the cloud. While this will lead to better system stability and faster digital services in the long run, it requires a total temporary halt of current online operations.
