Guwahati, December 10: A tragic incident unfolded today near the Kharghuli locality of Guwahati when five devotees were swept away by the strong currents of the Brahmaputra River while taking a ritual bath. The group, consisting of nine individuals, had reportedly visited the nearby Bhakti Kutir Temple before proceeding to the riverbank.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 10, when eight of the nine individuals entered the river. According to initial reports, powerful and unexpected currents quickly overwhelmed the group, sweeping five of them away.
