New Delhi, September 15 – A fatal accident on Ring Road near Dhaula Kuan on Sunday led to the death of Navnoor Singh, a Finance Ministry employee, while his wife sustained injuries. The couple’s motorcycle was hit by a BMW car, according to Delhi Police.
The crash occurred on September 14, leaving 33-year-old Singh, a resident of Hari Nagar, fatally injured. His wife, who was riding pillion, survived with injuries and is receiving medical care.
Delhi Police confirmed the arrest of the BMW’s woman driver on Monday. The arrest followed a police visit to Nulife Hospital and Maternity Centre in GTB Nagar, where both the accused woman and her husband had been admitted after the mishap. Coincidentally, the accident victims were also admitted at the same hospital.
Witness Statements and Police Probe
Eyewitnesses stated that a woman was driving the BMW when it struck the motorcycle. After the collision, the woman and her husband reportedly arranged a taxi and helped rush the injured to the hospital. The couple, who are involved in the business of horse leather saddles and related goods, remain under treatment.
An FIR was registered on September 15, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team examined both the BMW and the bike to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The investigation also includes charges under Section 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, which pertains to concealing evidence or giving false information to protect an offender.
Ongoing Inquiry
Police have said that inquiries are still underway to establish whether speeding, negligence, or other violations were factors in the fatal crash. More details are awaited from the continuing investigation.
