Guwahati, Assam: Preparations are gathering momentum at the sacred Kamakhya Temple as authorities gear up for the annual Ambubachi Mela, one of the most prominent religious festivals in Northeast India.

Members of the temple’s Doloi community stated that the four-day festival will begin on the night of June 22 and conclude at sunrise on June 26. The event annually attracts lakhs of devotees, ascetics, and pilgrims from different parts of the country who visit the shrine situated atop Nilachal Hill.

Administrative Coordination and Planning

Temple management has already started advance planning in coordination with district authorities to ensure smooth arrangements during the mela. Key priorities include strengthening security, managing large crowds effectively, and organizing essential facilities for visiting pilgrims.

Considering the huge turnout expected this year, special steps are being taken to regulate the movement of devotees and maintain orderly access to the temple premises.

Additional Route to Reduce Congestion

To ease crowd pressure, officials will introduce an additional entry route from the Pandu side, which will operate alongside the existing Nursery route. The new access point is expected to improve traffic flow and make the pilgrimage more convenient for visitors.

Early Arrival of Sadhus and Security Measures

Sadhus have already started reaching Kamakhya Dham ahead of the festival, with the number of pilgrims expected to rise steadily in the coming days. Authorities are also enhancing surveillance arrangements by installing advanced CCTV cameras across the temple complex to ensure safety and monitoring.

With the Ambubachi Mela approaching, temple authorities and the administration are focusing on providing a secure, well-managed, and spiritually fulfilling experience for the thousands of devotees expected to participate in the annual celebration dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya.
