IMPHAL – In a major breakthrough, the Manipur Police have arrested three active cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP–Apunba) linked to a recent bomb explosion in the Lilong Chajing area.
The arrests follow a rigorous investigation into the blast, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West.
Coordination and Crackdown
The operation was carried out across multiple districts, leading to the apprehension of the suspects on February 8 and 9.
According to official police statements, the first two suspects, identified as Laishram Bulu Singh (39) and Puyamacha David (22), were intercepted at the Watham Leirak Crossing on February 8. Following their interrogation, police moved on a third individual, Ningthoujam Chalamba Singh (29), who was picked up from Khewa Bazar the following day.
Seized Items and Evidence
Authorities recovered a significant cache of items from the suspects, suggesting active involvement in militant activities. The seized property includes:
- Weaponry: One .45 pistol equipped with a magazine and 17 rounds of live ammunition.
- Transport: A Maruti Gypsy (Registration No. MN01AK 3615).
- Communication: Three mobile phones currently being analyzed for forensic evidence.
- Personal Effects: An Aadhaar card, a wallet containing cash, and various incriminating documents.
Next Steps in the Probe
The Manipur Police are currently conducting a deeper investigation to determine the exact role each individual played in the Lilong Chajing explosion.
“Further investigation is underway to ascertain the role of the accused in the blast and to identify any other persons linked to the incident,” the police statement confirmed.
Security forces have intensified surveillance in the region to preempt further activities by the proscribed group and to track down any remaining associates.
