Mohali Punjab : In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old businessman identified as Rajdeep Singh died by suicide inside the toilet of an HDFC Bank branch in Sector 68, Mohali. Rajdeep, who ran an immigration business, was reportedly under heavy debt and had accused senior police officials of harassment before taking the extreme step.

Allegations of Harassment and Threats

According to the police, Rajdeep recorded a video moments before his death. In the video, he claimed that a senior police officer who had invested in his firm was demanding his money back and had threatened to falsely implicate Rajdeep’s family members if he failed to pay.

Rajdeep, originally from Moga and residing in a rented house in Sector 80, Mohali, also left behind a suicide note. In the note, he accused Gurjot Singh Kaler (Assistant Inspector General) and Rishi Rana (Assistant Sub-Inspector) of mentally harassing him.

Complaint by the Victim’s Father

In a complaint filed with the police, Rajdeep’s father Paramjeet Singh alleged that on Tuesday, Rishi Rana and another person came to their home and forcibly took Rajdeep to the residence of Gurjot Singh Kaler.

“There, they humiliated my son, made a video of him, and forced him to get a loan approved in his name at HDFC Bank. They kept demanding more money and even took him to HDFC Road, Sector 68, where they continued pressuring him,” the complaint stated.

Final Video and Suicide

As per the FIR, Rajdeep went to the toilet of the bank and recorded a video saying: “I have never done anything wrong. Where will I get it from? You have troubled me a lot. I will commit suicide. Okay, bye.”

He then shot himself with a firearm he was carrying. Before ending his life, Rajdeep texted his wife Chhavi, telling her he had left something for her at a local dairy. When she went there later, she found his suicide note, where Rajdeep apologised to his family and said he was “left with no choice.”

Based on the complaint and suicide note, police have registered a case against five individuals for criminal conspiracy and abetment to suicide. Apart from Gurjot Singh Kaler and Rishi Rana, the other accused are:

Sunil Agarwal – Chartered accountant and real estate dealer

Rinku Krishna – Caterer

Saina Arora – Resident of Ferozepur

A detailed investigation into the case is currently underway. The incident has sparked widespread shock and outrage across the region.
