Singapore police indicate that the death of singer Zubeen Garg is still being investigated.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) stated on Thursday, December 18, that the investigation into the death of Indian singer Zubeen Garg is still ongoing, following reports in Indian media that four individuals had been charged with murder in the state of Assam.
January and February of 2026 will see a coroner’s inquiry in Singapore.

The 52-year-old singer-songwriter, who is very well-known in his native Assam, passed away on September 19 while attending a cultural festival in Singapore.

Garg’s co-singer, bandmate, manager, and festival organizer are among those accused in connection with his death, according to Indian media sources from last week.

In October, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) stated that it might take an additional three months or so to complete its probe.

According to the Singapore Coroners Act 2010, “the case is currently being investigated by the SPF,” the police stated on Thursday.

SPF reiterated that based on investigations so far, it does not suspect foul play in Garg’s death. Its findings will be submitted to the State Coroner, who will hold a coroner’s inquiry.

“The CI (coroner’s inquiry) is currently scheduled for January and February 2026,” SPF added. “Its findings will be made public upon conclusion.”
