93rd Air Force Anniversary: IAF to hold commemorative air show in Lachit Ghat, Guwahati

Guwahati, Assam – The skies over the majestic Brahmaputra River are set to witness a historic and awe-inspiring aerial spectacle as the Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrates its 93rd Anniversary with a grand Air Show.

This marks the first-ever full-scale Air Force Day celebration to be hosted in Assam, reinforcing the vital strategic and security importance of the Northeast region.

The Grand Finale: November 9, 2025

The main event and grand finale of the five-day display will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lachit Ghat, in the presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other top dignitaries.

The public is invited to witness this massive demonstration of aerial power from designated viewing areas along both the northern and southern banks of the Brahmaputra, including the newly developed riverfront at Uzan Bazar.

A Dazzling Lineup of Aerial Might

Prepare to be mesmerized by a display of over 150 aircraft showcasing the pinnacle of Indian air power, including:

  • Frontline Fighters: The lethal Rafale, the formidable Sukhoi-30MKI, the versatile MiG-29, and the agile Mirage 2000
  • The Pride of Indigenization: The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) ‘Tejas’, highlighting India’s self-reliance in aerospace technology. The Tejas will lead the display with the call sign “Lachit,” a tribute to the great Assamese military leader, Lachit Barphukan.
  • Precision Acrobatics: The world-renowned Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will paint the sky with their perfectly synchronized formation flights.
  • A Diverse Fleet: The show will feature a mix of transport aircraft (C-17 Globemaster, C-130 Hercules, IL-78 Refueller) and helicopters (Apache, MI-17, Advanced Light Helicopters), with the Apache fleet flying under the call sign “Rhinoceros.”

The theme for the 93rd Air Force Day

The theme for the 93rd Air Force Day- “Infallible, Impervious and Precise” perfectly captures the IAF’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence, resilience, and precision. Every complex manoeuvre performed is a live demonstration of the force’s exceptional professionalism and cutting-edge technology.

Beyond the incredible visual display, the Air Show has a deeper purpose: it aims to honor the proud history of the Indian Air Force and actively encourage young people in the Northeast to consider joining the armed forces. As part of this effort, an exclusive preview show was held on November 6th specifically for high school students (Classes 9-12) to directly inspire future air warriors.
